HUNDREDS of screaming girls all going mad for their pop idol – not a flashback to The Beatles but a meet and greet by rapper Fugative in a Swindon store.

Ewan Forsyth, manager of HMV in Regent Street, said it was all very good humoured despite the excited screaming and Fugative, aka Harry James Byart, spent two hours with his fans at the store.

“It all went very well. We had in excess of 150 all told and Fugative signed posters of himself and had pictures taken with his fans.’’ said Ewan.

Natasha Noel, 15, a pupil at Nova Hreod school joined the queue to see Fugative when she was on work experience with the Swindon Advertiser.

The budding reporter said: “He came outside and we got some photographs and then we went back in and I asked him a couple of questions and had my picture taken with him.

“Then the fans came through the door and had their CDs signed.’’ The store sold 120 copies of the singer/songwriter’s new single called Crush and Fugative signed all 120.

The store manager thinks that he has a good chance to get into the charts with the new single.

Ewan said: “He should do pretty well with it. He has a big fan base.

“I can see it going into the top 40, probably the top 20.’’
