Youngsters from a Swindon school will be cooking up a birthday treat today for a special friend of their school – Eric White who will be 95.
Eric, is a regular visitor to the school. He gives talks on the Older Person’s Society to the sixth formers.
Rosemary Cairns from Ridgeway said: “Eric has been very supportive of the school. The monthly lunches give the catering students practice of their skills and make a contribution to the wider community. Also it helps the elderly who are afraid of kids who hang about in groups. We address that and hopefully alleviate their fears. There are lots of plusses.’’ Once a month the pupils and the catering department of Ridgeway School in Wroughton create a meal for the elderly residents in the town.
The lunch is from 12.15 to 1pm at the Ridgeway School. For more details call 01793 846100.
