LUCKY lads are being offered the amazing chance to date one of seven beauty pageant finalists to help raise hundreds of pounds for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children Seven Miss Wiltshire finalists – including Miss Swindon Emma Salter and Miss Wiltshire Megan Bowyer – are auctioning the opportunity to enjoy a meal with them in aid of Variety Club Children’s Charity.

The night at Mario’s Sicilian restaurant in Old Town is organised by Miss Charity Wiltshire, Rebecca Mitchell.

Her brother Robert, 22, a sufferer of Worster-Drought syndrome, a disability which occurs in some children with cerebral palsy, has been helped by the Variety Club charity.

Rebecca, 18, of Penhill, said: “It will be a lot of fun for the winners and the girls and it will also get Miss Swindon and Miss Wiltshire known to the community.

“You are paying for the good company and you are paying for a really enjoyable night out that is going to be a bit different.”

She added: “The auction means quite a lot to me because my brother is disabled and the Variety Club took him out on trips and used to help my family a lot when I was younger.

“I just want to give something back and say thank you for helping us.”

Rebecca, a customer service adviser at Big Yellow Self Storage in Greenbridge, was crowned Miss Charity Wiltshire at Liquid & Envy nightclub this month.

She raised the most money for the charity out of all the Miss Wiltshire contenders.

The former Wootton Bassett School pupil generated £1,000 in sponsorship for her skydive in Oxfordshire this spring.

She has now organised the auction in a bid to raise more money than any other regional Miss Charity winner before the end of May in order to go through to the finals of Miss England. The date night, which will include free soft drinks, pasta and pizzas, will take place at the restaurant in Wood Street on Wednesday between 7.30pm and 10pm.

As well as Rebecca, Emma and Megan, the other girls on offer are Miss Popularity Wiltshire Hannah Golding, top-10 Miss Wiltshire contestant Sophie Ellen Archer and top-25 competitors Emma Dickson and Catissa Creighton.

“People can bid for any of the girls for themselves, or bid for a friend as a birthday present or as a joke,” said Rebecca.

“It doesn’t have to be for themselves as long as they tell me who it is for once they have won.”

The auction is open to bidders of all ages – whether single or not – and there is no minimum bid, but Rebecca hopes to raise from £75 to £100 per girl.

To make a bid, text the girl’s name, your name, and the value of your bid in the format ‘HER NAME, YOUR NAME, £X’ to 07768 561 756.

Standard network rates apply. The auction closes at midnight on Saturday.
