PUPILS celebrated the end of the schooling years at their prom night.
Around 180 Year 11 pupils and 12 staff from St Joseph’s Catholic College attended the now traditional event at Swindon’s Hilton Hotel, off Wootton Bassett Road.
Pupils chose a variety of modes of transport from sports cars to classic cars to limousines. Some even turned up in horse and carriage and two boys arrived in a white van as the Blues Brothers. Arrivals were watched by proud parents outside the venue.
Krys Belzko, the school’s Year 11 student manager, who helped co-ordinate the event, said: “It’s an opportunity for the pupils to be together for the last time and enjoy themselves.
“They looked absolutely fantastic, really wonderful, we even had three boys dressed in kilts – they looked really smart.
“There were a few girls in short skirts rather than all long ones, which was nice to see for a change.”
The pupils then enjoyed a buffet and disco.
Prom night followed a day of the pupils celebrating their achievements.
An awards presentation ceremony was attended by pupils, teachers and governors. On the same day the pupils were allowed to help organise a celebratory mass.
l Don’t miss out on the Adver’s proms’ supplement on July 30.
