REGISTRATION for this year’s Prospect Starlight Walk will close on May 30.
The women-only walk, which takes place on June 26, is Prospect Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
Last year 650 walkers raised £65,000 towards the £4.5 million needed to keep the hospice running, but organisers are hoping to attract more than 1,000 participants for 2010.
Fundraising Officer Hayley Millin said: “The Starlight Walk is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we’d love to see this year’s event become the biggest ever, especially as this is our 30th anniversary.
“I’d love to announce that we had a thousand people take part, but we’ve still got a fair way to go before we reach that number.
“And there’s only a week or so to go until registration ends on May 30, so I urge anyone who’s thinking of signing up to get their registration forms in as soon as possible.”
The event will begin at the New College campus, with participants choosing between the 10 kilometre and 15 kilometre course.
“Lots of women from previous years have signed up again, saying they wouldn’t miss it for the world,” said Hayley.
“It’s a physical challenge, a girl’s night out and a fundraiser all in one – a brilliant night with a real party atmosphere, as you can imagine when hundreds of women dress up and take to the streets. And you may just see the odd fella who’s managed to sneak onto the walk dressed as a woman!”
