A WOMAN with multiple sclerosis threw herself out of a plane from 10,000ft at the weekend and in the process raised £4,000 for the therapy centre that has helped her cope with the condition.

Mother-of-three Samantha Mulvey, 33, of Eastrop in Highworth, was diagnosed with MS three years ago and has to inject herself with drugs every day.

She uses crutches to walk, but that did not stop her from completing the tandem skydive from Redlands Airfield.

Mrs Mulvey said: “It was certainly an experience – but not one I’m going to repeat anytime soon. I was very nervous all day and didn’t actually jump until 5.30pm.

“The moment we reached 10,000ft the aeroplane doors opened and that’s when the fear becomes reality – we are jumping out of a plane!

“I was absolutely terrified and the whole time we were in freefall I pretty much stayed that way.

“It was a truly exhilarating experience, yet completely unnatural at the same time.”

Her husband Glen, 39, was waiting on the ground to greet her with their children Daniel, aged 10, Connor, five, and three-year-old Lydia.

Mrs Mulvey completed the jump with friends and family and they have raised £4,000 so far for the Swindon Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis.

She started using the centre at the beginning of this year after she started to struggle to cope with her condition. She said the staff there had been ‘absolutely amazing’ and she now regularly goes there for special pilates sessions and oxygen therapy but also just to chat to people who are going through a similar experience.
