Wootton Bassett’s Frank Ashton, 89, will be up, up and away this Saturday when he and 14 colleagues take off in an air balloon in aid of charity.
For the last 40 years Frank has been raising money for charity and the Prospect Hospice in Wroughton is dear to his heart. The balloonists will take off at 6pm from Lydiard Park in West Swindon.
Frank is also involved in a fundraising fete on Saturday July 17 at the Ridgeway Centre, Wootton Bassett, with the money raised going jointly to the hospice and the Lorna Doone Day Centre.
It runs from 2-4.30pm with stalls, tombola and Stop the Watch game with the winner scooping a watch donated by a local jewellers. There is also a raffle with the top prize of a Regency doll’s house.
Last year Frank’s walk for Prospect Hospice raised £800.
