A GROUP of sportsmen from Swindon are looking for a runner to join a five day trip to Poland to run in a Half Marathon.
Last year’s Swindon Half Marathon was won by Krzysztof Bartkiewcz from our twin town of Torun in Poland and the six runners are hoping to repay the compliment.
Peter Robinson, one of the team of six, has had to pull out of the trip due to an Achilles injury.
Councillor Stan Pajak is among the team flying out to Poland on June 5. He said: “We need a replacement for Peter to enter the half marathon. Our best runner is Dave King, editor of the Swindon Advertiser, so we are a mature squad.’’
Torun and Swindon twinned on May 13 2003, signing an agreement of Friendship and Co-operation.
The group leave by coach from Swindon and fly from Bristol Airport on Saturday June 5, returning on Wednesday June 9.
