THE HEARTBROKEN family of grandad Nick Bishop have spoken of their loss after he died in a motorcycle accident near Wroughton.

Nick, 60, from Calne, died after his motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcyclist near Berwick Bassett on the A4361 on Sunday afternoon.

His wife Angela Wood, and children Maria, 35 and Michael, 32, have paid tribute to the motorbike fanatic who lived for his family.

His daughter Maria said: “Dad was just an amazing man who loved the simple things in life like a beer in hand and a good chat and laugh be it with his friends or family or even a good walk in the winter followed by a pint or two in by the fire.

“We are thankful that dad got see all his brothers and sisters just one week before the accident at a family gathering and also his granddaughters whom he absolutely adored, just days before.

“Dad is already missed so much by us.

“Our family is just not complete without him.

“He was always there and would drop everything for us. He was always on hand for any DIY help and advice.

“Above all, he was a kind, caring, generous, very funny man. He blessed our lives.

“We have received so many kind words, phone calls and cards from friends, family and work mates. The support we have received is incredible.”

Along with his love of bikes, Nick was also keen on fitness and had been on several skiing holidays.

His wife had also booked tickets to go up in a hot air balloon, which was tragically booked for next month.

Nick, who was born and raised in the village of Derry Hill, had also recently visited Virginia to visit his younger brother, Gordon and his wife Garnetta and daughter Naomi.

A date for Nick’s funeral has yet to be arranged but the family has said that any donations made in his memory will be going to the Great Ormond Street Hospital or British Heart Foundation.

The other motorcyclist, a 19-year-old from Swindon, is still in a critical condition in Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash and in particular the driver of a light coloured BMW which may have overtaken one of the bikes prior to the incident.
