SWINDON TOWN fans driving to Wembley will have to endure three sets of M4 roadworks which are not being lifted over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The Highways Agency is planning to remove more than half of its roadworks nationwide over the holiday weekend.
This evening and tomorrow lunchtime are expected to be the busiest periods over the Bank Holiday weekend as people set out on short breaks or day trips across the country.
Most Swindon Town fans are expected to set off for the 78-mile journey to Wembley Stadium between 9am and 10am tomorrow.
A fleet of supporters’ coaches will be leaving the County Ground at 9.30am.
However, though the Highways Agency has announced that 228 miles of roadworks will be lifted or completed before the weekend, 50mph speed limits along three sets of M4 roadworks will remain in place.
At Hungerford, just before junction 14, the contraflow will remain in place with a 50mph speed limit because the Highways Agency said that it would not be practical to lift the restrictions. They have warned motorists of slight delays.
Similarly at Reading, a similar 50mph speed limit will remain in place by junction 11 where new safety barriers are being installed and there are open excavations.
Further into Berkshire, Swindon Town fans could incur slight delays between junctions six and seven near Windsor where work is being carried out on safety barriers.
For anyone travelling by car and using a sat nav, the post code for Wembley stadium is: HA9 0AA.
