A FORMER Swindon Town forward turned pub landlord is supporting Swindon Town by steering clear of Wembley.
Andy Rowland, who played centre-forward with the club between 1978 and 1986 but now runs The Plough, in Devizes Road, Old Town, said he will not be attending Wembley because he doesn’t want to “jinx” the club.
He believes that because he hasn’t been to one game so far this year, and the club have been doing well, it would be bad luck for him to turn up might be bad luck to show up today.
The former centre-forward said: “I haven’t turned up all season and they have done splendidly without my support. I really want them to do well and I think they have a chance.
“I would love to go but I just don’t want to jinx them.I will be watching on the television although we won’t be showing it in the pub.”
He said Swindon’s pair of strikers Billy Paynter and Charlie Austin should prove to be the difference in the game against Millwall.
Andy added: “Going to Wembley is fantastic, I have been twice before and there is an aura about the place.
“In there it is just about being part of it, regardless if you are on the bench or in the stands.
“I know it is a different stadium but as long as there are Town supporters in there it will be the same feeling.”
