A SWINDON bus operator is launching its own drive to go green.
Stagecoach, which runs bus routes in Swindon, will be running of series of environmental awareness activities this week across the country.
It aims to highlight the environmental benefits of using public transport as well as informing staff and passengers of ways in which the company is reducing its own carbon footprint.
There is also the chance for people to win a year’s free travel on their local bus network.
On local Stagecoach bus networks, staff will be handing out eco-friendly giveaways at bus stations across the country.
Green roadshow events will be held at some of the company’s bus and rail locations and, in some areas, a portion of fares for one day will be donated to a local green charity.
Stagecoach employees will be given information on green issues throughout the week as well as tips on how to reduce their carbon footprint at work and at home.
Stagecoach West Managing Director Ian Manning said: “We want to play our part in helping Britain go green.
“Going by bus and train can save people time and money – as well as cutting their carbon footprint.”
