UP to 20 organisations that use volunteers in Swindon are taking part in an event to promote the value of giving up your free time to help others next week.
Volunteer Centre Swindon, which matches individuals and groups interested in volunteering with appropriate opportunities in the local community, is running the event to mark national Volunteers’ Week.
It takes place on Saturday from noon to 3pm at the Pilgrim Centre in Regent Circus.
Sue Dunmore, manager of Volunteer Centre Swindon, said: “The event will showcase volunteering in all its diversity and will be a great opportunity for people to come along and have a chat with different organisations and some of their existing volunteers to find out more about what they do and how to get involved.
“You don’t need specific skills to start volunteering – it’s as much about gaining skills as sharing them.
“We guarantee there will be something of interest for everyone, no matter what your interests, passions or time commitments.”
