A CHILDREN’S garden, revamped by volunteers, has re-opened.

The gardens at Swindon College’s Little Stars Nursery were officially re-opened by Swindon College principal Andrew Miller last week.

A number of staff, family and friends from the college, in North Star Avenue, had volunteered their free time over the last few weeks to help create three new garden areas for the nursery.

The Little Stars Nursery provides affordable childcare for the community, including students and staff at the college.

Buildbase and Ford Breakers donated equipment for the garden and volunteers brought in packets of seeds and contributed other materials to help landscape the gardens. Vocational Studies Lecturer Paul Badcock and his students made flower beds.

Nursery manager Kelly Stoneham said: "We would like to thank everyone who participated in creating the new gardens.

“We are overwhelmed by how fantastic the gardens now look.

“These gardens will help us to provide greater opportunities for the children to reach their full potential within the Early Years Foundation Stage in the outdoor environment.

“It was great to see the children’s faces light up when they explored the new areas.”
