A BODY was discovered in Swindon last night following the disappearance of a pensioner who has not been seen for more than two weeks.
Lloyd Samuels, 67, was last seen by his family on May 16 at his home in Sydney Row, Hotwells, Bristol.
Avon and Somerset police, in a joint operation with Wiltshire officers, arrested a 48-year-old man in Swindon on Wednesday on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident. He is still being questioned in police custody.
Police have not yet revealed any further details at this point, but it is thought the grim discovery was made in Park North.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "During the course of Thursday evening, police officers from Avon and Somerset and Wiltshire recovered the body of a man in Swindon.
"Formal identification is yet to take place. This follows the discovery of a Red Renault Clio in Swindon earlier in the day.
"The man arrested remains in police custody where questioning will continue."
Police are no longer appealing to the public for information in relation to Mr Samuel's disappearance.
