SEVEN teenagers’ dream night is back on after a limousine firm came to their rescue.

Year 11 Greendown School pupils thought they would not be going to their school prom in style after their booking with a limousine firm fell through.

But H and F Chauffeur Limited, in Ermin Street, Stratton, came to their rescue.

Alison Millin, 48, of Lumley Close, Grange Park, whose daughter Faye, 16, is one of the relieved group of friends, said: “I think it’s very good of them to come forward.

“The kids have now actually got a nice start to their evening.

“They are over the moon and really excited again.”

The teenagers involved are Gemma Warren, Amy Sharpe, Iona Garnett, Bethany Beynon, Hannah Spencer, Matt Goode and Faye Millin.

They had spent months meticulously planning the perfect end to their compulsory schooling at the Blunsdon House Hotel on July 1 by booking everything well in advance.

But the Adver reported on May 14 that Mustafa Yilmaz, the owner of Must Afa Limo, had notified them that he had sold his limousine due to poor trading conditions.

He passed their deposit to another firm, but that firm could not provide a limousine that evening, only luxury cars. The deposit has been returned.

Mrs Millin said: “They were upset. We were left with having to arrange it all when the girls needed to be concentrating on their exams.

“They’re sensible, they realise there are more important things in the world, but it’s their big night leaving school and saying goodbye to all their friends.”

After frantically ringing round limousine firms in the town, the group was lucky enough to come across one who could take them on.

Although H and F Chauffeur Ltd could not take a booking for that night, they have offered simply to transport the group free of charge to the prom venue and take them home afterwards for a reduced fee.

Speaking to the Adver for the previous story Mr Yilmaz, 39, who had been running the company since 2003, said he would either pay back the money or provide taxis for the teens.

Mr Yilmaz had said: “Because of the financial situation I wasn’t able to carry on running the limo company anymore.

“I sold the car and transferred all the jobs to another company, but they couldn’t fulfil the work.

“I have tried to phone other companies since but everything appears to be booked up.”

Yesterday he said most customers had been understanding of his situation and that he had offered the group a Jaguar instead.

He said: “I haven’t got any payments existing that haven’t been paid, all money has been paid off.

“Ninety five percent of the customers are quite happy.

“I offered them (the teenagers) another service, but they didn’t want it.”
