The age old debate about technology in football has surfaced again of late, but one thing is for sure, the man in the middle will always play a pivotal part in the game.
Regardless as to whether goal line technology or video replays are introduced, the referee will still be vital in maintaining integrity, none more so than at grass roots level. It is widely known that there’s a shortage of willing officials, so if you have ever considered taking up the whistle, then there is no better time to get involved with Swindon Leisure Leagues, as Executive Manager Stephanie Bullock explains: “Quite simply, without referees, our leagues would be unable to run. They are the most important individuals in our organisation.”
Referees are wanted in Swindon as a community football league looks to recruit men – and women – in black.
Leisure Leagues – Europe’s biggest and most successful providers of 5 and 6-a-side football – are running courses for budding referees, with only limited spaces available.
The induction evenings will take place at St Josephs and Abbey Meads School’s on Sunday’s over the next few weeks and anyone interested in the free lessons can ring 0845 230 2340, email info@leisureleagues.net or visit www.leisureleagues.net
