The M4 has reopened after being closed in both directions for most of the morning due to a police incident.
Police closed the motorway in both directions near Membury Services due to an incident and it was only reopened shortly before midday. The Adver understands that a person was threatening to jump from a bridge and police stopped the traffic for safety reasons.
Traffic was stationary between junction 16 for Swindon West and junction 14 for Hungerford.
All traffic was held since 7.30am just east of Membury Services and police are at the scene.
Eastbound queues were almost back to junction 16 at one point with westbound queues going back to junction 14.
A Thames Valley police spokesman said at the time: "Thames Valley Police officers are currently attending an incident on the M4 between junctions 14 and 15.
"A fear for welfare call was made to police shortly after 7am this morning and officers attended the scene near Oldings Hill.
"As a result, the M4 is currently closed at junction 13 and 14 westbound and junction 15 eastbound.
The northbound B4000/B4001 is also closed."
