We like for carers / loved ones getting together as we tend to forget how hard, confusing and frustrating it must be for them too. You may feel put off joining/attending due to shyness etc., someone with you can give you that extra confidence. Many shy ones who attended said how confident and comfortable they felt in being around people who understood. The meetings are informal drop-in session based and it gives you the chance to discuss coping mechanisms and to generally share any concerns that you may have dealing with this invisible illness.
We have visitors attend from various organisations offering tips and various techniques on controlling symptoms. We have the following booked into our diary: 22nd February 2011 NHS Clapham Hobbs Foot Care Service hold regular day appointment at Liden Community Centre (this is open to everyone, by appointment). Call to register and make an appointment !! The appointments are totally private and offer people unable to attend their premises a chance to have their feet attended to correctly and hygienically. Unfortunately this service isn’t available to diabetics. Low level diabetics would need to be referred by their Doctor.
