A FORMER imam at Broad Street Mosque appeared in court yesterday charged with sexually assaulting girls under the age of 14.
Ebrahim Kazir, 66, who now lives in Gloucestershire, appeared before magistrates charged with five offences under the Sexual Offences Act 1956.
All the offences allegedly took place between 1979 and 1986 during Kazir’s time as an imam at the mosque.
He pleaded not guilty to all five offences and the case will return to Magistrates’ Court on April 14 for committal to Swindon Crown Court.
