MEMBERS of the public have had their say on how development cash will be spent on a new playground.
Stratton Parish Council held a public consultation on Thursday and Friday to discuss the future of the Coleview Play Area.
The play area is to be funded from Section 106 money from the St Joseph’s College development and will see an investment of around £100,000 in the site. At the consultation there were displays from seven of the firms who have put forward plans for the site, and visitors had the chance to see the plans and give feedback before the council picks the three best tenders.
Paul Russell, clerk of Stratton Parish Council, said: “The feedback we have got back has been positive and we have had some good suggestions from people about what could be done to the site.
“It is important that residents have their say on this – this is for them, after all.”
The council will set up a community panel to interview the three companies chosen and the recommendation from that community panel will be put forward to the parish council to award the contract to one contractor. After that, an intensive public consultation will be held before the playground is put in place by August.
