The 1930s thriller Dangerous Corner kicks off a J B Priestley double for Swindon.
Tomorrow The Western Players enact the twisty tale of Dangerous Corner and next month the National Theatre will present one of his best known plays, An Inspector Calls.
Both the J B Priestley plays reflect his fascination with the theory of time.
Dangerous Corner is at Swindon’s Arts Centre in Devizes Road, Old Town, from tomorrow to Saturday at 7.30pm.
It is the first play written by Priestley in 1932 and it was made into a feature film in 1934.
It revolves around a dinner party at the country home of Robert and Freda Caplan and, year’s before the movie Sliding Doors opted for the different path different lives theory, Priestley conjures up intrigue and dark emotions as secrets are revealed with tragic consequences. The thriller stars Adrian Peace as Robert and Shirley Dobson as Freda with newcomer to the Western Players, Kay Oliver, taking the part of Miss Mockeridge. Tickets are £7 from 07575 711522.
