This year the sweet soul music of Motown goes for gold, notching up 50 years of the sounds of The Supremes, Martha Reeves, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Steve Wonder and the close harmony magic of The Drifters.
Roy G Hemmings, singer with the original Drifters line-up, is back on the road with his award-winning show Motown & Philadelphia On Tour which is coming to Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre on Sunday (March 11) at 7.30pm.
Roy is the longest serving members of The Drifters and has performed all over the world including before Bill Clinton when he was president of the United States of America.
Roy and the gang of 14 professional singers and dancers bring the thumping beat of Motown to life with such numbers as Baby Love, Dancing In The Street, My Girl, I Can’t Help Myself, I Heard It Through the Grapevine and Reach Out.
Joining Roy on stage are The Love Supremes and The Tops & Tempts who pay tribute to the history of the vocal groups from Detroit.
Tickets are £22.50 from 01793 524481.
