PUPILS at Holy Rood Junior School have raised £150 to help save the moon bears.
After a visit from Sarah Chilvers, of the Animals Asia Swindon Support group in November, the youngsters from the school in Upham Road decided to befriend two bears and hold fundraising events, including non uniform days.
The bears the children have chosen to support are Irwin Junior, a cub that was rescued on his way to a life of torture on a bear farm and Freedom, a bear rescued from a bile farm in China. She is missing her front two paws after being caught in a snare in the wild.
They will be helping to provide special treats like toys, climbing frames and swings for the bears.
