A COUPLE who ordered a table and chairs during the Christmas sales have been left outraged after the wrong chairs were delivered seven times.

Julie-Anne and Anthony Morrissey, of Penhill, ordered a set of six chairs along with a table in Homebase, at the Orbital Retail Park, which were reduced to half price from £499 at the end of December.

The table was delivered at the end of January, but the grandparents-of-five are still waiting for the matching chairs, even though delivery men arrived for the seventh time yesterday.

Julie-Anne, 47, said: “The customer service people said without a shadow of a doubt they would be right this time. I am at my wits’ end. It’s just ridiculous, this customer service is just horrendous. I have had no chairs to go with the table since it arrived.

“We were supposed to be having a Valentine’s meal for my sister and her husband but we had to cancel. We postponed it until a week later because we thought we would have the chairs by then. We ended up eating on the sofa.”

Julie-Anne ordered the set on December 27 and the first delivery was on January 26.

She said since then they have had a delivery almost every week with chairs of the wrong colour and style being delivered.

“They keep delivering dark brown ones instead of chocolate brown and they are the wrong colour wood. Sometimes they’re completely the wrong chair,” she said.

“Because of all the trouble we had, the duty manager from Homebase offered us more expensive chairs that would be compatible. But when we got home we sat at the table and couldn’t get our legs under it.

“I have got to the stage now where I am really annoyed. I want it sorted.”

Julie-Anne has been bringing furniture in from the garden for when her grandchildren come round. She said: “With the children I’m having to bring in the garden bench seat so they can have their dinner.”

Julie-Anne and her husband have been waiting for Oxford-style chairs and a spokesman for Homebase said there had been supply issues.

“After reviewing Mrs Morrissey’s order Homebase has offered an alternative table and chairs at no additional cost,” he said.

“We will also provide a substitute set of chairs to go with her current table, until she receives her new table and chairs.

“We have recently had supply issues with this product line and are working to resolve this situation as soon as possible.

“Homebase would like to apologise sincerely to Mrs Morrissey for the lengthy inconvenience and any distress caused.”
