CHILDREN at a Swindon nursery went bananas to mark Fairtrade Fortnight.
In all, 58 youngsters joined in the day at The Co-operative Childcare at The Great Western Hospital by wearing yellow, painting pictures of the fruit, tasting bananas and using them in simple recipes.
Sand and water play was given a yellow theme and the babies took part in yellow painting. Children also tried their hand at making banana muffins and banana smoothies.
Nursery manager Tracy Rundle said: “Our Go Bananas day created a lot of excitement and the children really enjoyed it. The Co-operative is a champion of Fairtrade so we wanted to do something special to celebrate Fairtrade Fortnight.
“At the nursery we only have Fairtrade bananas and we use as many Fairtrade products as we can on a day-to-day basis.”
Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual campaign held by the Fairtrade Foundation to raise awareness to buy products which carry the Fairtrade Mark.
