SWINDON fans will be singing all the way to Wembley with a commemorative CD produced for the day.
Many of the fans have been singing Que Sera, Sera since they beat Barnet to book their place in the Jonstone’s Paints trophy final and now a group of fans have produced a single ahead of the big game.
The band, Paolo’s Red and White Army, have released the single Best in the West Swindon Town and hope fans will be singing the song from the terraces when the team walks out at Wembley on Sunday, March 25.
The three track CD is available now to commemorate the team’s achievements and the artwork on the CD shows Paolo Di Canio in celebratory pose with Wembley Stadium in the background.
Track one has a short introduction with Swindon fans in full voice recorded live at the County Ground.
Track two gives the fans a full introduction with chants of “Swindon we love you” and “We are Paolo’s Red and White Army” and track three is an instrumental, aptly entitled Lead ’em out Paolo.
The band had hoped to have the CD sold in the County Ground store but failed to agree terms with the club.
Producer, Robin Banks, said: “The idea for the song has been fielded around for a little while, we were just waiting for the right time.
“With Town going to Wembley it is the ideal time and we are hoping a lot of Swindon fans will buy the CD to mark this occasion.
“We were hoping that a deal would be able to be done with the club to sell them in the shop but it is a shame that it couldn’t be done.
“Some of the CD was recorded at the County Ground and the rest was done in London. We want the fans to be able to buy it and have it as a memento of the day.”
A sample of track one can be heard on Youtube under the title Best in the West Swindon Town.
You can order your own copy of the CD by going to www.bestinthe-westswindon.co.uk or by telephoning 07554 868 204. It costs £2.99 plus 50p for postage.
