A PINT-sized pooch scooped a top prize at the prestigious Crufts event.
Alvin, a 21-month-old miniature smooth-haired dachshund, proved every dog does have its day after walking away with a top prize at the event in Birmingham.
Alvin was one of more than 26,000 dogs at the show at Birmingham’s NEC.
And he claimed the prestigious best of breed award last weekend.
He fought off competition from 131 other dogs to scoop the coveted prize before going on to compete for best in group.
His owner Jason Hunt, 43, of Twineham Road, Swindon was left beaming with pride at his and Alvin’s performance.
“My first time here at Crufts was in 1979 and I’ve been showing since 1982,” he said.
“This is my third best of breed and it never gets old.”
“I’m over the moon about it because we have never won with a home bred dog, which is what Alvin is, so this is extra special.
“It’s a once in a lifetime experience coming to Crufts but one I do every year because it’s just such a great time.”
