GRATEFUL Linda Little wants to thank the Good Samaritan who returned her passport and driving licence, which she believes she lost in a town centre park.

The 56-year-old, of Penhill, was shocked and worried when she could not find the identification documents, which she took out with her for a job interview.

However, the mother-of-three was delighted when three days later they were posted through her door in a package from an anonymous sender.

Linda said she was delighted with the selfless deed because she plans to fly out soon to Australia to see family and friends, and also because she was worried about identity theft.

She said: “I would like to say thank you and I would have offered them or given them something for that, a reward, because that was my driving licence and my passport and that could have got into the wrong hands.

“I was overjoyed when it came through, I just couldn’t believe it. It’s great to know there are some honest people out there.”

Linda was sitting on a bench in Faringdon Road Park on March 6, waiting to be interviewed for a job as a carer. She had the passport and driving licence inside a red folder in open-topped plastic wallets and thinks the documents fell out when she picked the folder up, but she did not realise they were gone until she was asked to produce them in the interview.

“I was devastated. I was nearly crying,” said Linda, who secured the job after using a car insurance document as identification.

“I went straight back to the park. I walked right across the park actually, and I even looked in the bushes. People there were helping me out as well. I went back there the next day to have a look. The gardener was there and they said they would look for it.”

Linda had almost given up hope when, on Friday, the package was put through her letterbox by the postman. There was a stamp, but there were no signs of identification.

Linda’s son-in-law Andrew Morgan, 46, of Grange Park, said: “I think people who returned the documents are very nice. You hear about people who have their passports and driver’s licences nicked and identity theft.

“We’re all pleased she got it back and we’re grateful to the person who returned it.”
