AS THE traditional spring clean season approaches in March, the British Heart Foundation) is appealing for people having a clear out to donate their unwanted household items to the BHF Swindon Furniture and Electrical Store.

The BHF Swindon Store in Havelock Street offers a free collection service for larger items that can be booked online, making it easier than ever to donate in a green and environmentally friendly way. The BHF Swindon Furniture & Electrical Store, which opened in 2010 is always looking for good quality items such as sofas, armchairs, dining tables, chairs, beds, wardrobes, TVs, fridges and washing machines to continue its life-saving work.

BHF Area Manager, Ron Humphreys, said: “This year, the BHF Swindon Store is appealing to Swindon homes that are having a spring clean to support the nation’s heart charity.

“All donations are truly valued by the Swindon Store with the average sofa selling for £85 in-store, which could provide a lifeline for 21 heart patients.

“Every year, three million items of furniture go into landfill that could easily be re-used. I hope the people of Swindon think BHF when having their spring clean this year.”

Last year, BHF Shops raised more than £26m to help fight heart disease.

They sell more than 90,000 items a day, so donations are crucial.

To arrange a free collection, people can call to locate their nearest store on 0844 412 5000 or book online at bhf.org.uk/collection.

The BHF Swindon Store is also keen to receive small electrical items including Hi-Fi’s, DVD players, toasters and kettles – and is keen for residents to drop these items off in store.
