This week it is the march of the Mods in to town as the soundalike and lookalike Kinks tribute band, The Kinx, ride On A Carousel, The Suspicions get back on stage, Who’s Next talk about My Generation and Brit poppers The Hoosiers are Worried About Ray.
There are may rumours surrounding the strange name of The Hoosiers, some believe they are named after a film about a basketball team, others because they spent some time in Indiana where a citizen of Indiana is colloquially called a Hoosier.
Whatever the reason the odd pop trio burst upon the music scene in 2007 with their kooky songs involving a mix of music genres and crazy onstage antics.
At the time they described themselves as Odd Pop but since then the boys have reinvented themselves into a more conventional pop band, minus the moustaches and long hair.
The guys make a welcome return to Swindon to perform at the MECA, Regent Circus on Saturday March 24 from 6.30pm.
Tickets are £16 in advance plus booking free from 01793 495527.
Tomorrow sees a free gig by The Suspicions playing mod tunes and supported by Destination Anywhere DJs at The Vic in Old Town. It is a free gig. It is the Vic again on Saturday for a dose of The Kinz magic. Tickets are £6. And at Riffs Who’s Next make a pretty good Substitute of The Who in full flow singing their stadium classics, also on Saturday. Tickets are £5 in advance and £6 on the door.
