SWINDON fans who have not got a ticket to Wembley need not despair, as pubs across the town will ensure fans have the best seat in the house.
Pubs are gearing up for the big day and hope those who can’t make it to Wembley will create a good atmosphere back home.
With pubs suffering in the recession, landlords are hoping for a bumper day thanks to the Johnstone Paint Trophy and will be doing all they can to draw in punters.
The Moonrakers pub, in Cricklade Road, is ensuring its customers won’t miss a second of the action with five screens showing the big game.
There are plans to have two big screen projectors showing the crunch match and five smaller screens dotted around the bar.
The pub will also be decking the pub in red and white.
Landlady Beverley Neal said she was hoping for a great day.
She said: “We have the lounge area where we will have a big projector screen showing the game and we will have five TVs around the bar showing the game and another big screen.
“Everybody will be welcome for the game, including children, and we are hoping for a good day.
“We hope it will be busy and the pub will be done up in red and white, with balloons up and there will be a buffet on the day.
“It will be a good boost for the pub and it will be great if Swindon win.”
Customers will also get a real taste of the Wembley atmosphere with Arkell’s serving a commemorative pint for the day.
Red Army ale will be available in selected Arkell’s pubs on the day.
George Arkell, of Arkell’s Brewery, said: “We are delighted to celebrate Swindon Town Football Club’s success.
“Manager Paolo di Canio has done an amazing job bringing Swindon Town to the top of League Two.
“The team’s success gives the whole town a spring in its step and we’re looking forward to watching the Robins complete the season in style.
“And if Paul Benson continues his run of goals, perhaps we’ll bring out a beer called ‘Benson’s Brew.’”
