THE annual social evening for members of the Swindon Branch of the Wilts & Berks Canal will take place at 7pm on Saturday.
The event, at Immanuel Church Hall, Upham Road, Old Walcot, will include a talk by Mike Rodd, of the Kennet and Avon Canal Trust. His theme will be The New Canal and River Trust, which replaces British Waterways There will also be an update on developments and restoration of the Wilts & Berks Canal, along with the event’s traditional fun and games, such as tombola, a twist on bingo, a film show and a buffet.
Tickets cost £10 and are available by calling Sue Paine on 01793 827678 or from the canal shop near Central Library on most Fridays and Saturdays, from 10am until 2pm.
