Director: William Brent Bell.

THIS found footage Exorcist wannabe has not received critics’ screening in the UK – which is perhaps not surptrising considering it has been panned by just about everyone who has managed to see it.

William Brent Bell directs this supernatural horror about a young woman searching for the truth about her murderous mother, which is shot as found footage a la Paranormal Activity.

In 1989, Maria Rossi (Suzan Crowley) telephones emergency services to confess to killing three people during an exorcism. She is spirited away to Rome where she languishes in a psychiatric hospital, far from the prying eyes of the media.

Twenty years later, Maria’s daughter Isabella (Fernanda Andrade) makes a documentary about exorcisms to better understand the dark forces that supposedly took hold of her mother. The young film-maker travels to Rome, where she witnesses priests Ben (Simon Quarterman) and David (Evan Helmuth) casting out evil from one unfortunate soul.

A terrifying visit to Maria’s cell confirms Isabella's worst fears and she entreats Ben and David to perform an exorcism and finally free her mother from unspeakable torment.
