RWE npower employees have been limbering up this week as they prepare to pound the pavements for charity.

More than 100 employees from the company’s offices in Swindon will be undertaking a 10km run to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care on March 28.

They’ll be racing against each other to try and beat last year’s fundraising target of £16,000.

The company’s CEO, Volker Beckers, will be joining the team out on the track, along with Macmillan’s head of corporate partnerships, Charles Byrne.

Ruth Worton, charity manager at RWE npower, said: “This is the second time that we’ve organised a run for Macmillan and it’s great to see more people get involved than ever before.

“Whatever their ability, everyone has been training really hard and it’s got competitive in the run-up to the event. Macmillan is a charity close to our hearts and we can’t wait to start raising money for such a good cause.”
