A SCHOOLBOY had his bike stolen from the school shed after the thief cut through the lock.
Jamie Lovegrove, 14, of Walcot, parked his bike in the Dorcan Academy shed just before 8am on Tuesday and CCTV shows someone taking the bike at about 8.05am.
Jamie, who suffers from learning difficulties and epilepsy, only had the £220 black Apollo Paradox bike since November and used it every day to get to school.
His mother Kathy said: “He was upset because he had used part of his birthday money for it and then we had given him the money as well for a Christmas present. I’m a recently a single parent and it makes it even harder. There is no way I can afford another couple of hundred pounds.
“With his epilepsy I worry about where he walks to school because it’s through a wooded area and there aren’t many people around. If he was to fall down and have a seizure nobody would see him. If he’s cycling he goes on the pavements and there is more of a chance of someone seeing him.”
The bike, which was locked in the shed with a £15 combination lock, is black and white with red writing and has white mud guards.
“It is scary knowing that someone was possibly watching my son,” said Kathy.
A spokesman for the police said police are examining CCTV footage.
Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
