BOOKWORMS were treated to an out-of-this-world storytelling session at the weekend.
The event was part of a time traveller-themed event at the Central Library on Saturday, which saw Daleks invading the building and special storytime and workshops events.
Children’s librarian, Glenda O’Connor, said: “The Daleks exterminated a few people, it was a bit of fun. We had a brilliant alien storytime in the morning too. It has been brilliant.
“The characters have been outside the library too and it has been brilliant watching all the people walking past. We had had people outside who weren’t going to come in, but came in specially to see them. It is lovely to do something different.”
As well as the Daleks, there were Sith from Star Wars, Clockwork Droid from Doctor Who and a wookie from Star Wars.
Ady Davies, chairman of Charity Sci Fi, which was collecting money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “People’s reactions are normally a mixture of amusement, shock and fear and thinking it’s hilarious.
“We get the whole spectrum.”
Local author, David Johnson, held writing workshops for budding authors between the ages of seven and 11 and signed copies of his Crystal Quest book series, too.
