SOUL superstar Alexander O’Neal is heading for Swindon next week, alongside reggae giants Aswad and jazz funksters Shakatak.
Alexander has a multi musical genre background, mixing up dance, pop, modern ballads, a hint of rock ‘n’ roll and sweet soul. His solo hits include Fake, Criticize, Saturday Love, Never Knew Love Like This, Sunshine and Secret Lovers.
He also competed in the TV celebrity duet show, Just The Two Of Us, partnering Janet Ellis.
Alexander will be joined by Shakatak at the MECA, Regent Circus in Swindon at 6.30pm on Saturday, March 31.
Shakatak are an 80s band still with their original line-up of Bill Sharpe on keyboards, Jill Saward on lead vocals and flute, Roger O’Dell on drums and George Anderson on bass guitar. Despite gaining an underground status, the band scored mainstream hits with Night Birds and Down On The Street.
Reggae stars Aswad shot to fame in the 1980s with Love Fire, followed by a number one with Don’t Turn Around and the huge hit Shine.
Tickets are £24.50 plus booking fee.
Meanwhile, this Sunday, MECA plays host to the Bon Jovi Experience, a tribute to Bon Jovi led by Tony Jon By Jovi.
Tony has been singing Bon Jovi tunes for more than 15 years and was once asked to appear on Channel 4’s Breakfast Show with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora.
He was also joined on stage by the real Jon Bon Jovi when the band played live at the Hard Rock Cafe in London.
Tickets for the Swindon gig are £12 in advance, with £1.20 booking fee and £15 on the door.
