It will be romance all the way this weekend when the Swindon Symphony Orchestra strike up in aid of the Prospect Hospice.
The concert features romantic works from Carl Heinrich Carsten Reinecke (1824-1910). At the Leipzig Conservatoire Carl taught many well-known composers, including Grieg, Sullivan and Bruch.
The orchestra will also play Schumann’s Manfred Overture, based on a poem by Lord Byron, and Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony.
The music will have the tones of Mervyn Stephen’s French horn ringing out in style on Sunday at St Luke’s Church, Broad Street, Swindon.
The accomplished soloist and principal horn player in several local orchestras will perform Richard Strauss’s popular first horn concerto.
Tickets to the concert at 7.30pm are £8 (concessions £6 and accompanied children free). For more details call 01793 826857 or visit www.swindon orchestra.org.uk.
