ONE Town fan will have more riding on a Swindon cup win this weekend than anyone else as he will have to travel home to Chesterfield with his Blues-supporting wife – win or lose.

James Collis, who grew up in Swindon before moving to Chesterfield when he was 12, is travelling to Wembley on the train donned in the famous red and white of the Robins.

But he will be surrounded by Spireites fans, including his wife Lisa, 30, on both journeys – only escaping to join his dad and uncle in the Town end for the match.

The 27-year-old said the banter had started following the semi-final draw in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, the final of which is on Sunday.

He said: “We watched Chesterfield win in their semi-final and I thought ‘Swindon have to beat Barnet.’ The sporting banter started then.

“They are struggling this season, so I think she’s a bit worried. She started off saying ‘we will win and take the cup home easy’ but that’s changed recently to ‘we are going to get thrashed’ because we are top and they are last.

“We are playing great this season and I think the appointment of Paolo has changed the ethos of the whole club.

“I think she’s worried about being embarrassed.

“I’ll be heading down in my Swindon shirt and the train will be full of Chesterfield fans. Depending on the result the trip back could be interesting.

“When I get to Wembley I’m heading off to meet my dad and uncle in the Swindon end and my other half will be sat in the Chesterfield end.

“If we win I’m going to rub it in.

“I won’t go easy because I know for a fact if we lose Lisa and all her friends will take the mick for quite a few weeks.”

The football-mad couple, who have two children Jack, five, and Sophie, six, married two years ago and took their honeymoon in New York in May 2010 – but they still made sure they did not miss Swindon’s doomed play-off final.

“We found a bar in New York with around three other Swindon fans and about 18 Millwall fans,” he said.

“I didn’t want to miss that even though it wasn’t a good result.

“We are always going to Chesterfield and even our second date was watching Sheffield Wednesday against Town.

“Our son Jack is convinced he is a Swindon fan too – he’s asked me to paint his room red and white.”
