DISAPPOINTED Swindon Town fans are on their way home after the club lost 2-0 to Chesterfield.
And those who didn't make the journey to Wembley have piled out of pubs where they watched the game.
Drinking holes across the town were packed with hundreds of supporters and many pubs had hired extra staff and decked facilities out in red and white in preparation for the big day.
All Arkell’s pubs served their new brew Red Army, made with English fuggles hops and rye crystal malt to give the beer a reddish tinge.
Over at the Moonrakers in Stratton, approximately 250 fans packed out the pub’s function room, which was decorated with red balloons, to watch the game on the big screen.
Landlord Pete Neal, formerly of The County Hotel next to the County Ground, said: “We’ve got 10 staff in all together, we normally have five on a Sunday so we were expecting it to be really busy.
“We had a lot of chances to be honest - I wanted to go and watch at Wembley so I’m a bit gutted I couldn’t go.
“I wasn’t expecting any trouble, it has just been a great atmosphere.”
Howard Taylor, owner of the Steam Railway in Old Town, said more than 250 fans had come to watch the game on one of their 15 screens and it seemed that despite Chesterfield’s first goal in the 46th minute, Swindon fans remained hopeful, until the 93rd minute when the opposition made it 2-0.
“I’m not a big football pundit but I was hoping for a 1-0 win for Swindon - I have lived here 21 years now so I have been converted to a Swindon fan.
“It would have been nice to see them win at Wembley so it is a shame,” he said.
