A man has been found guilty of raping a woman after a night out at a popular town centre club.
Fareed Issa Tariq, 32, of Hawfinch Close, was found guilty by a unanimous jury decision at Swindon Crown Court today.
Tariq raped a 32-year-old woman, who can not be named for legal reasons, in the car park off Penzance Drive last July.
The incident took place after the victim had been on a night out with friends at the Casbah night club in the early hours of Sunday, July 17.
Following the verdict, Simon Brenchley, Head of CPS Wessex Rape and Serious and Sexual Assaults ( Rasso) Unit said: “We hope that with this conviction, the victim will be able to rebuild her life. Our thoughts at this moment are with her.”
He will be sentenced on Monday, April 30, at Winchester Crown Court.
