FAMILIES are invited to create eggstravagant Easter egg decorations at the Swindon Museum and Art Gallery.
The venue, in Old Town, is hosting a workshop on April 4 which has been inspired by its collection of colourful 20th century art.
A spokesman for the museum said: “Painting or dyeing eggs has been part of most families’ Easter tradition for many years. When Christianity arrived in Britain with the Romans these pagan traditions became combined with the story of Jesus’s resurrection at Easter. In Orthodox Catholic Churches, eggs are dyed red at Easter to represent the blood of Christ.
“In the UK the tradition of rolling decorated eggs down grassy hills goes back hundreds of years.
“Our colourful workshop will be linking the tradition of decorating eggs with our wonderful collection of art.”
The sessions, from 11am -1pm and 2pm-4pm, are drop in activities. It is £3 per child.
