SImon Towshend, younger brother of The Who guitarist Pete Townshend, is heading for Swindon this week, fresh from his stint on Tommy the US tour, with The Who.
Simon will be performing songs from his new solo album, Looking Out Looking In, alongside one or two Who covers when he comes to The Vic, Victoria Road, in Old Town on Thursday.
Simon and Pete’s father, Clifford Townschend played sax with The Squadronaires, a big band in the style of Glenn Miller, who are also coming to Swindon’s MECA in Regent Circus on Sunday.
Simon has his own record label and production company called Stir Music. He has played with The Casbah Club and supported Eric Clapton and Pearl Jam, as well as appearing on his brother’s solo album and being one of the choralists for the Ken Russell film adaptation of Tommy.
Tickets for the Swindon gig are £8 in advance and £10 on the door from 01793 535713.
