Disco fever is about to hit Swindon when Boogie Nights - The 70s Musical bursts on stage in full technicolour flares, platforms, afros and chopper bikes.
Pollyann Tanner, founder of the Empire Theatre Company, is hoping to swap tickets to the musical for the loan of a 1970s chopper bicycle to use in the show.
“I remember having one myself, it was orange with tall ape-hanger handle bars,’’she said. “I would be happy to give some tickets to anyone who has one we could use.’’ Boogie Night features all the disco favourites including We Are Family, Celebration, YMCA, Disco Inferno, I Will Survive and Boogie Wonderland. It is set around the 1970s British culture and tells the tale of Roddy O’Neil and his friends, their lives and loves as they grow up in the decade that taste forgot.
Pollyann is choreographing the musical and Jamie Brooks is the musical director for the show.
Anyone who has a chopper bike to lend to the theatre company should call 07775991700 or email empiretheatrecompany@tiscali.co.uk.
Boogie Nights will be performed at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre at 7.30pm from April 12 to 14 by the members of the company all aged between 13 and 35-years-old. Tickets are £11 from 01793 524481.
