LAST orders will be called at the Harvester pub in West Swindon next month as it closes for a £150,000 makeover.

New televisions, new furniture and a refurbished bar are just some of the features being added to the pub in West Swindon Town Square during the closure, which is from April 10 until April 20.

The makeover, which is to transform it into a John Barras pub, will also create at least four part-time job opportunities.

Denis McGinlay, general manager of the Harvester, said: “I am really excited. We cannot wait to introduce the John Barras brand to our community; the changes will allow us to enhance our offering and the guest experience while still retaining the community hub aspect that makes our pub so special.”

The investment will see the pub fitted with new HD televisions, new furniture and a refurbished bar with updated guest toilets. The kitchen will also have new equipment to strengthen the food on offer.

The business will be recruiting at least four more part-time positions in the bar and in the kitchen, and it is already accepting applications from potential employees.

“I’m on the look out for bright, passionate and enthusiastic individuals that enjoy working in a team and performing under pressure,” said Denis.

The pub will be closed for 10 days while it is refurbished.

John Barras is a brand from Spirit Pub Company, which owns and operates 800 managed pubs across the UK. Other brands in the portfolio include Chef & Brewer, Fayre & Square and Flaming Grill pubs.
