A number of grants for special events to mark the 2012 celebrations will be discussed at the Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade Area Board tomorrow (March 28).

Pedestrian crossings, speed limit reviews and grants for community groups are some of the other diverse topics to be discussed at the meeting.

The meeting, which will take place from 6pm at Cricklade Town Hall, will also include updates on improvement schemes such as a pedestrian crossing for the B40440 (Malmesbury Road, Cricklade) and Willis Way (Purton) A presentation of how life in Royal Wootton Bassett and Cricklade compares to other parts of the county will also be given by Maggie Rae, Director for Public Health.

The presentation will include the Joint Strategic Assessment (JSA), which provides a single snapshot of life in Wiltshire and is used by many organisations including Wiltshire Council to help shape services and prioritise funding. This will be followed by two discussion groups based on the themes of the document which can be found at http://www.intelligencenetwork.org.uk/local-area-profiles/ A number of community area grant applications will be discussed including a request for £2,916 to refurbish the Royal Wootton Basset Guide Hut and £5,000 for Bath Spa University to develop an emotional resilience project in schools within the area.

A number of grant applications from around the area to support a variety of 2012 events will also be considered at the meeting.

The meeting will take place from 6pm, there will be a break for refreshments and networking at 6:30pm and then the meeting will continue with the JSA presentation from 7pm.
