YOUNGSTERS at Meadowpark School and Nursery have done their bit for charity – and got some exercise at the same time.
Parents watched as the children, aged between four and eight, walked a mile around the field near the leisure centre in aid of Sport Relief on Wednesday.
Teachers marked out a rectangular course, in which the children determined that it would take 13 laps to complete a mile.
Headteacher Rajvinder Kular said that the older children ran the course instead of walking, with some of them doing up to three miles in aid of the charity.
The school also made sure that the nursery children were not left out in helping out Sport Relief.
Since they were too young to walk a mile, the school arranged for a group dance session to fun songs such as the Hokey Cokey.
Mrs Kular said: “It was a nice atmosphere and a lovely day.”
The school has so far raised £317.09 and sponsorship money is still coming in.
