A MUM-of-two who was unemployed for 15 months says she has something to look forward to every day after returning to the workplace.
Liz Gurhy is halfway through an eight-week placement as a catering assistant at Nationwide’s HQ, in Pipers Way.
Working in the busy kitchens, she is helping to feed thousands of workers every day.
Liz, who has moderate learning difficulties, said: “It’s very rewarding, I enjoy the work and getting to meet people from all kinds of backgrounds.
“I think everyone should do this scheme, even youngsters, because even if you don’t get a job at the end you get a reference.
“I feel like I’m improving my life skills and my chances of finding a full-time job.”
The 53-year-old is taking part in a project called Energy2Work, which helps people from Swindon with disabilities to find employment.
The Adver revealed last month how she took part in initial training aimed at getting her off the employment statistics.
“Working here gives me something to look forward to in the morning,” Liz said.
This year 120 people are expected take part in training with Energy2Work, which helps people with disabilities return to work.
