Young indie rock band The Fixed have come through the live auditions of the national Live and Unsigned competition, already beating hundreds of other aspiring groups.
The Swindon band will now compete at the Regional Final Showcase on April 15 at Sub89 in Reading in a bid to make it to the grand final at Live Fest in The O2 in London.
As a warm-up to the musical battle the four guys will be performing at the charity gig, Out Of Towners, in aid of Goldenhar Family Support Group on Saturday at 7.30pm in the 12 Bar, Westcott Place.
The charity gig has been set up to encourage new bands from out of town to come to Swindon.
Organiser Sandra Wiseman said: “Out Of Towners is to give a bit more variety to the local live scene for original bands.’’ The Fixed are George Hosking, 16, on bass; Ash Wiseman, 16, on lead vocal and rhythm guitar; Josh Pannell, 16, on lead guitar, and 13-year-old Harry Wiseman on drums.
The overall winners of the Live and Unsigned finals will win £10,000 cash plus publicity investment and gigs at more than 30 festivals all over the world.
Also on the bill at the Swindon gig are Luna Machine, performing electro acoustic rap, and Last Night’s Victory, another electro ensemble.
Sandra said: “I have a great headline act, Young Blood, and I am so excited that they are finding time in their hectic schedule. They really are a band not to be missed.’’ Tickets are £3.50 in advance and £5 on the door. They are available from Holmes Music and The 12 Bar – Flicky Harrison
